Futon beds are designed to be folded away for safekeeping or otherwise packed in a manner that would serve as a low seating cushion during the day. Bunk Beds – Usually, bunk beds are built as two-in-one beds one on top of the other. More commonly made in metal, although certain designs also come in wood, bunk beds are referenced mostly for the domicile of military personnel. The Basic Divan Bed Divan beds are made of a base of boxes supporting a mattress on top. Traditionally divan beds, similar to the futon, are configured to be used as cushioned sofas by day and bed by night. Furthermore, divan beds are differentiated between sprung boxes – those having their tops lined with springs for additional support – and the platform top, which provides a flat firm base for the mattress. The simple box construction of divan beds allow for its stability and further contributes to its popularity as a versatile piece of furniture.
