BIGSPEED Computing Inc. today announced the release of BIGSPEED Video Compression SDK 1.0. BIGSPEED Video Compression SDK is a low-complexity, high-performance engine for quick development of video streaming applications. It incorporates video capture and video compression/decompresion in a single COM automation object. The component uses DirectX to enumerate the installed capture devices and available capture formats. The used capture format is 24bit RGB bitmaps. The frame rate can be set in the range from 1 to 30 fps. The compression ratio is adjustable and can vary from 50:1 to 500:1. At frame rate set to 15 fps and format selected to 160x120 pixels the output bitrate is 6-8 Kbps. BIGSPEED Video Compression SDK utilizes an elegant event-driven paradigm for easy integration into Windows applications. A special attention is paid to provide responsive user interface while maintaining low CPU usage. Carefully designed set of properties, methods, and events offers great flexibility to develop innovative communication software. Sample applications are included in Visual Basic 2005, and Delphi 7.
