Advertisers want us to believe that consoles such as Playstation 3 or Xbox 360 can provide the best and most realistic gaming experience that can possibly be. But that is not true. In fact the most realistic experience in games can be provided by your own PC at home and it lies in the desktop of your PC. But not in those cheap family PCs but in those costing a little bit more. Even though machines like Playstation and Xbox are so very impressive the real 3D gaming’s powerhouse is the desktop computer. Many of the best games are primarily released for PC or only for PC and if there is a version for the consoles it has no means of comparison. For ultra realistic racing flight simulating and fantasy adventures consoles are second best. A big difference comes from the fact that while PS3 and Xbox can only look as your TV lets them look, (even though they may be the newest version there is no difference on your TV from the old one) PC based games have the advantage that they can be adjusted to reflect the capability of the computer on which they are played (the higher quality of the settings the better the game will look). When you choose a gaming PC or when you build one, the goal is not to overspend because you can get what you need with a low budget, especially if you choose the alternative of building it yourself. You should also know that this type of computer will function as a normal one as well. You can choose a wide screen monitor and speakers, but most gaming computers comprise the basic PC tower. You can also try fancy keyboard or mouse and even an eccentric case with lots of colors and lights. Tests were made to prove that gaming computers are the best in this field. Each machine was loaded with a few games speed tests were conducted and overall results assessed to see which machines gave the best gaming thrill per pound spent. The most important aspect of a gaming computer used to be its graphics card which rendered the 3D images by processing the information that it gets. But nowadays it is more important to have a balanced system with a suitable processor and last but not least 2 GB of RAM. Still the best graphic card is also needed. Any gaming computer that is worth buying is obliged to have the Nvidia GeForce 8800 card in one its three variants (GTS, GTX or Ultra). The mid GTX version has the best value and is affordable for almost any pocket. Some PCs will accept 2 identical graphics cards so they will boost the speed but it doesn’t mean that the performance of the computer will double. With processors, Intel currently reigns over AMD. Intel’s best known chip (the Core 2 Duo) is dual core, which means it has two “brains” and can perform two tasks or actions at once without slowing down too much or making you wait for centuries until they are done. Serious players should consider investing in the new quad core processors as these will work better with games which are still to come. Also try to use parts and pieces designed only by specialist gaming companies so that you will have the certainty of your performances.
