There are huge amounts of models to choose from. If your requirements are simple and you just want to record the temperature outside your backyard, then an outdoor thermometer might be all you need. If however you think that you really want the top of the line station to take readings of the rain, wind, atmospheric pressure and humidity then a top of the line wireless model will be what you are looking for. Davis Instruments - The products from this manufacturer can be found in a very wide range of applications. Their choices are used by meteorologists, farmers, teachers, equipment operators, families, and others who require high quality products. They have been operating since 1963 and are a privately held company. Some of their more desirable products are the Davis Vantage Pro2 line of products. La Crosse Technology - Was the first to bring clocks to the United States market that could be set on a regular basis by Atomic Clocks that are operated by the National Institute of Standards and Technology. They have been in business since 1985 and are a well-known corporation. Oregon Scientific - Began business in Portland, Oregon in 1989. They supply a broad range of weather stations. Some of the choices they offer are well known for their quality. They also offer a good range of products for those starting out with limited funds. They are now a division of Integrated Display Technology which is located in Hong Kong and founded in 1977. Honeywell - The products from this company are produced by Hideki Electronics who are a division of K&P International Holding Limited and have been doing business since 1989. Their stations are produced in China. One of the most desirable attributes of the new Digital stations is the development of wireless technology. When researching your new weather station, make sure that you ask as to whether it has this feature. It sure saves channelling a hundred feet of wiring through your house out to the backyard or other distant location. There is wireless technology available that will let you mount your wireless sensors hundreds of feet from the main display console. When hunting for the best price it may be worth considering other factors as well before purchasing. Even though some of the prices can get a little high, the lowest prices might not always be the right decision. The newest weather stations contain electronics and sensors that while durable, are not something you generally repair at home. If you ever need to contact the retailer for customer service, you want to know they are going to be there to assist you. Service comes at a price and if you have purchased from some of the manufacturers that have large low prices you might find any things that are wrong difficult to solve.
