The first thing you probably wonder when you learn about Squidoo is "what does the name mean?" Well, the idea behind Squidoo is to imagine the worlds oceans as representing the content of the world wide web, and you are a giant Squid with a giant eyball who dives deep into the content bringing new knowledge to the surface. Squidoo strives to be rich in fresh internet content by giving free web pages (or Lenses as they call them) to everyone. Anyone can start a free Squidoo lens about almost any topic that they know about. And would you believeyou can even make money from your lens? With no cost to you what so ever? Yep. The lens will have Google adsense ads at the top of the page and you get 50% of the royalties! So when internet searchers discover your lens that you created about widgets, the Adsense ads will be related to your widgets automatically! The ads are small and do not get in the way. You are invited to build as many lenses as you wish. The more lenses you build, the more visitors and the more you end up getting paid. But many people just use these lenses to promote other business programs and some people just like to use their lens like a blog. You can use a Squidoo lens for many different things limited only by your imagination. Squidoo lenses use a tagging system that builds links within the Squidoo community that enhance the traffic of all Squidoo members. Squidoo has very good built in website statistics so you can monitor your traffic and what keywords they used to find your site. There is a Squidoo forum as well as a blog and many other related sites to help you with your Squidoo experience. I created a lens about "paid to click sites" that lists all the best ptc sites which I joined for free. Now I receive a lot of traffic to that site and I make more money from my ptc sites. Plus I make money from the Adsense ads. I also created a few other lenses that you can check out if you want. They are mostly about making money on the net and how to advertise online. You could create a lens about cooking recipies or whatever subject you may know about. You will have a lot of fun and before you know it there will be lots of people visiting your lens.
